Creating A Mentally Healthy Australia

3 Million Australians live with anxiety or depression and many more are suffering and feeling alone. By opening the conversation we can help remove stigma associated with mental health and mental illness, we can also educate Australians on how to help friends, family & colleagues.

We can start doing that by sharing stories & experiences, educating Australians on strategies we can implement to manage and improve our mental health. We are an Australian charity organisation designed to help improve the understanding, education and awareness of mental health.

The Problem

Mental Illness

Mental illness is very common. One in five (20%) Australians aged 16 to 85 experience a mental illness in any year. The most common mental illnesses are depressive, anxiety and substance use disorder. Almost half (45%) of all Australians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime.

Suicide in Australia

Every day, at least six Australians die from suicide and a further thirty people will attempt to take their own life. Suicide is the leading cause of death for people Australians aged 25-44 and second leading cause of
death for young people aged 15-24

The Stigma

Access to treatment is essential as approximately 75% of people admitted to public sector mental health inpatient services improve notably. We need to remove stigma so that people access this help sooner.

Program Outline

The Fight The Stigma program has been designed as a mental health education and awareness program. It is aimed at changing behavioural patterns in people who can then help educate others around them. The program educates people about the negative impacts of stigma and provides them with strategies to keep themselves and their friends and family mentally healthy.

Introduction & Understanding

Attendees first hear from Luke McLean, the founder of I Am Worthmore who suffered with depression, anxiety and addiction for years while trying to solve all his own problems, which made him feel alone and worthless.

By commencing the program with Luke’s story, attendees are given a lived experience perspective, which shows what can happen when our mental health is left unattended.

Activity & Participation

The attendees will also participate in an interactive session, which will allow them to discover key values, along with easy ways to implement positive mental health strategies into their own lives and the lives around them. This program encourages attendees to become more grateful, mindful, compassionate and kind.

All attendees then are given access to our 90 day program to help provide easy consistent practices to help manage and improve their mental health.

Why Open The Conversation?

1 in 5 Australians are living with anxiety or depression & as many has 50% of Australians will experience a major mental health problem in their lifetime, yet stigma stands in the way of many of those in seeking the help they require. Opening the conversation is the way to to break the stigma

Around one in 35 young Australians aged 4-17 experience a depressive disorder. 

Improve The Wellbeing of Our Community

This program is designed to improve mental health & well-being strategies. These occur via interactive activities which are then easy to implement into your employees daily lives.

Build Reslient & Vulnerable Communities from a Young Age

13.9% of children and adolescents aged 4-17 years experienced a mental disorder, which is equivalent to an estimated 560,000 Australian children and adolescents.

Let’s show them that they’re not alone & that they can learn to manage their condition and improve their mental health.

Remove Stigma Around Professional Help

We act as a facilitator between not wanting to talk to anyone about mental health, to understanding it’s okay, as explained by our lived-experience facilitator.
